The process for transferring global domain names can be broken down into 3 stages.
- The first stage involves obtaining the relevant information required from the existing domain registrar in order to move the domain.
- The second stage is generating the transfer request.
- The final stage is awaiting the respective domain registry to move the domain between the 2 domain registrars.
Stage 1
To complete the first stage, you will need to contact your existing domain name registration provider and inform them that you intend to transfer your domain name to a new provider and that they are requested to unlock your domain name allowing for its transfer, and to provide you with your domains' "Auth/EPP Code". Please note that domains that haven’t been registered for longer than 60 days cannot be transferred. Some domain registrars have online panels where you can obtain the information required but if they do not then you will need to send them a formal request (signed letter/scanned). We can supply you with a template for this if required. Download: Global Domain Transfer Request Form
Stage 2
Once you have the Auth/EPP code and the domain is unlocked then you are ready to proceed to stage two. To make a transfer request to move the domain to ourselves you will need to either login to your online billing panel with us or request directly from our website.
Stage 3
You are now at the third stage of the transfer request and this will typically take between 7-10 days to complete. Upon successful completion of the transfer, you will be notified by email or support ticket and the domains’ status updated in your online account.
